Strong innovation ecosystems, better health in Latam

It is a program that seeks to bring together actors in the Latin American health innovation ecosystem with innovative solutions that address or solve problems/challenges in the health sector, in order to select up to 5 winners, who will be invited to take part in a Mission to the United States, to one of the most prominent innovation ecosystems in the world, and will receive specialized intellectual property mentoring.

R&D&I centers, universities, hospitals, clinics, start-ups, SMEs and other actors in the Latin American health innovation ecosystem. Participants must submit, through the application form (section 14), specific information about their innovative solution and the applied intellectual property strategy, on the basis of which the jury will carry out an analysis and select up to 5 winners.

The requirements to participate are as follows:

• Be legally incorporated as a legal entity in one of the countries of the region.
• The team member who would attend the Mission (if selected) must hold a valid U.S. visa (2026–2027).
• Have an innovative health development (device, software, accessory, equipment and technology in general) that solves a general or specific problem with an impact on people’s quality of life.
• Eligible innovative solutions must be applied to the health sector and have a clear applied intellectual property strategy.

The general conditions to participate are as follows:

• Each actor in the health innovation ecosystem may participate in the Call with a maximum of one innovative solution (a single application).
• The innovative solution submitted may not be replaced by another at any point in the program.
• Participating actors in the health innovation ecosystem must guarantee the accuracy and truthfulness of the data and information they provide in the application and throughout the Call.
• The right to participate in the Call is non-transferable.
• Participants selected as winners must take part in the Call in its entirety.
• Participating actors in the health innovation ecosystem must be available and respond promptly to requests for additional information and/or to attend the meetings/sessions scheduled during the Call.

The 5 selected actors in the health innovation ecosystem will have access to the following benefits:

• Participation in a Mission to the United States, to one of the most relevant innovation ecosystems.
• Specialized virtual intellectual property mentoring.
• Dissemination of the winning cases through the platforms and channels of the organizing institutions.
• Participation in the closing event.
• Inclusion in the initiative’s communication kit.

• The intellectual property rights associated with the innovative solution submitted must belong to the respective participant and/or have the corresponding third-party authorizations.
• All intellectual property rights of participants over their innovative solutions will be respected and recognized at all times.
• Each participant will be fully responsible for any intellectual property claim associated with their innovative solution.

1. Receipt of applications: verification of compliance with requirements.
2. Request for additional information (according to the needs of the application).
3. Review and analysis of applications (pre-selection).
4. Evaluation of pre-selected participants.
5. Selection of up to 5 winners.
6. Announcement of the winners.

The organizing institutions and the participants undertake to properly handle/process the data accessed in connection with this Call, in accordance with their institutional data protection policies and national personal data protection legislation (Colombian Law 1581 of 2012 and other complementary regulations).

Participants must not include with their application any confidential information about their innovative solution, or any information whose disclosure would mean losing the opportunity to protect intellectual property.

The information provided through the applications may be disclosed/published without restriction by the organizing institutions of Latam Health Champions, through any medium, for informational purposes.

The organizing institutions of the Call will select up to 5 winners according to the evaluation of requirements, and reserve the right to exclude applications due to incompatibilities and/or the identification of possible improper use of third-party intellectual property rights.

The organizing institutions of Latam Health Champions may make changes to the scope of the Call, which will be communicated to participants in a timely manner through the official website.

Only communications sent through the official email address will be taken into account.

Actors in the health innovation ecosystem interested in participating must complete the application form available on the official website of the call.

Applications will be considered formally received only through the designated form. Applications submitted by any other means will not be accepted.
